Joaquín Paredes is a Spanish photographer specialized in historical processes. He studied architecture, but photography soon became his passion and left everything to pursue his artistic career.

Joaquín became fascinated by the aesthetics of 19th-century photographic processes and as soon as he started working on his personal projects, he gave up digital technology and started studying and experimenting with them. His main goal was to find a place for those projects and technics within contemporary photography. His creative needs lead him to build his own large format cameras and adapt them to the requirements of each photographic project.

He has exhibited his work in the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid, La Gallerie Nazionali d’Arte Antica (Palazzo Barberini, Rome), ICCD (Istituto Centrale Catalogo e Documentazione) (Italy), Segovia Foto, during the second edition of PHES, at the Revela-T International Photography Festival (Barcelona), Photo Patagonia (Argentina), in Timisoara ( Romania)… He has also participated in the Encontros de Artistas Novos of 2018 (Santiago).

Joaquín coordinates Revela-T’s residence for artistic creation and experimentation in Barcelona.

He has worked with Lois for his Lois & Arts projects. His photographs have been published internationally, in specialized magazines such as L’Oeil de la Photographie (France), Clavoardiendo Magazine (Spain), Adore Noir (Canada) and Lomography Magazine International.

He was a finalist of the Hariban Award (Japan) and the Emerging Talent Awards of Lens Culture. He has also been a jury of competitions as Europe Direct Price.

He currently combines his personal work with teaching workshops and giving lectures for organizations such as the IPCE (Institute of Cultural Heritage Spain), the ICCD (Istituto Centrale Catalogo e Documentazione) (Italy), CDIS (Centro de Documentación de la Imagen de Santander), CICUS (Centro de Iniciativas Culturales de la Universidad de Seville), The Spanish Academy in Rome, Museo San Telmo (San Sebastián), La Babuch (France),
